It is my pleasure to invite you to a luncheon meeting with Mr. Ari Soemarno, President Director of Indonesia's national oil company, PT Pertamina.   Soemarno will provide an update on Indonesia's oil and gas industry, energy subsidies, role of foreign companies and capital, and investment opportunities.

Soemarno has experienced the oil and gas industry from the ground up having worked for 16 years at the Bontang natural gas facility in Kalimantan before moving on to staff positions at Pertamina headquarters. He was eventually promoted to head Pertamina's trading operations in Singapore and ultimately became Director for Marketing Operations. As a company insider, Soemarno was reported to have had the enthusiastic backing of Pertamina employees when Indonesia's President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono shuffled Pertamina's management in 2006.

Indonesia faces the problems of rising oil and gas prices, increasing domestic demand, burdensome subsidies and less than optimal drilling and exploration rates. As the largest domestic upstream and downstream oil and gas company, Pertamina is a key player in Indonesia's energy future
